Faced with a terrible decision by doctors--have her foot amputated or die--Xulon author Pam Mitchell turned to an unconventional treatment that provided yet another option for her condition. That treatment, which used sterilized blowfly larva--maggots--to save her feet and her life, demonstrated God's hand in her life and proved that He can use anyone and anything for His purpose. In Maggots, Miracles and Me: One Woman's Fight for Life That Changed Modern Medicine ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-363-7), co-authors Mitchell and Faye Landrum recount in vivid detail the story of a woman who was brave enough to stand up to an entire medical community for a treatment she believed would save her life.
Texas author Jo Barrett, whose debut book, "The Men's Guide to the Women's Bathroom" has been well received by the publishing and entertainment communities, now looks forward to making her way onto summer reading lists.
Barrett's fresh, fast-paced novel provides a whimsical behind-the-scenes look at life in women's bathrooms through the eyes of Claire St. John, a divorced 30-something professional who has given up her high-profile New York legal career to return home to Austin, Texas. There she finds the inspiration to write the ultimate guidebook on what goes on behind the door marked 'Women,' while trying to right the course of her own personal life.
Will Landrum was born just outside of Los Angeles California. He started playing guitar at age 10, lost interest, and then at 13 started playing again, inspired by rock greats such as Deep Purple and Ritchie Blackmore. Throughout his teenage years, he joined a few bands sporadically but was never happy playing cover tunes and changing his guitar sound to suit other people's taste. The foundation for the D.Y.I. spirit was already set in stone.
A lot has happened since those early formative days. Will Landrum is now the Guitar Consultant and has two albums to his credit, and most recently a gripping tribute to all of his influences in the form of rockin’ instrumentals on Living Digits. When you look at the new recording in retrospect, what you get is a solid dose of classic rock, metal, and blues all wrapped into one tight package. If you love guitar instrumentals with a myriad of influences, this album will bring great joy to your ears and put a smile on your face from ear to ear. Great compositions like “Fill In The ___” and “Perfection Of The Bride,” covers the entire spectrum of sound and tone with electric and acoustic guitars.
From April 28 through May 5 2006, Ron Athey, Franko B, and Vaginal Davis come to New York for a series of premiere performances, lectures and events focusing on the unique way in which the work of all three artists challenges the separation between art and life.
In modern societies, the power of private experience is often filtered through the norms of social convention and the repression of difference. Ron Athey, Franko B, and Vaginal Davis challenge these constraints, sharing a commitment to artistic practices which transcend the boundaries of career, or marketplace and move into the space of life, or "who they are" All three artists consider themselves marginalized for reasons ranging from race, to class, to sexuality, and have subsequently used their involvement in subcultural movements to develop and propel their work. As an integral part of their performance work, Ron Athey, Franko B, and Vaginal Davis all subject themselves to physical, cultural, and psychological challenges as a means to transform the conditions of the present, thus their work is able to function simultaneously as exorcism and an opportunity for healing.

Nanotechnologist Richard H. Smith, in his talk, From Housecalls to House Calls, will talk about a logical pathway from recent inventions in medical diagnostics and therapeutics now coming out of university labs that will lower healthcare and insurance costs.
We are about to come full circle from the days when doctors made housecalls to patients homes to a new day when houses will call the doctor when the people get sick-even before the people realize they re sick," Smith envisions. Recent advances in nanotechnology will allow diagnostic devices in homes and schools to catch diseases when theyre cheaper to cure." Smith also claims that the savings from eliminating wasted doctor (and emergency room) visits can translate into affordable insurance for everyone. Smith will present innovations already in the testing stage which will make diagnosis and treatment faster and cheaper, in some cases as soon as in three to five years assuming venture capital investment.

As upper management achieves increased productivity from its headcount by mandating 40-hour-plus workweeks, today's facility managers now stand equally responsible for upping an organization's bottom line by seeking increased energy efficiency from plant equipment. In a case of "doing more with less," plant engineers are increasingly turning to direct-drive electric air compressor systems that extract greater power out of every single watt, raising the bar for efficiency in industrial equipment.
In the early 1990’s, acclaimed fashion photographer Tony Kent was a man who had it all—a great marriage, four healthy children, a beautiful home and a job he loved. Then his world collapsed. After twenty years of marriage, his wife announced she was leaving him for another man. Kent’s heart was shattered and he plunged into a state of total despair. He sought help from all corners— clergy, therapists, shamans, and psychics -- but to no avail. Then came an extraordinary trip to Jerusalem, where he was led to a “hidden teacher”, a Sufi holy man known to his students as “Sidi.” It was through this teacher’s guidance that Kent’s life was inexorably changed and the process of healing his heart began.
The SanitGrasp® (patent pending) is a new door pull handle that allows a person to exit the restroom door with their wrist or forearm, thereby avoiding germs on the traditional restroom door pull handle.
Fulkerson, LLC President, Matthew Fulkerson, stated, "This product provides a unique opportunity for an establishment to show their customers they really care about the health of their facility. We have all seen a person leave the restroom stall and head straight for the restroom exit door. What happens when a cook leaves the restroom and picks up those nasty viruses? It is well known that germs can stay alive on hard surfaces for a minumum of 20 minutes. This is one way of spreading the common cold, e.coli, staphylococcus (the virus behind food poisoning and a form of pneumonia) or even hepatitis A. The SanitGrasp® allows those who wash their hands to exit without touching a contaminated restroom door pull handle." Many restaurants in North America and Central America are improving their facility with the SanitGrasp®.

As a small company, 40cozy relies on creative promotional methods to offset its limited marketing budget. The iPhone 3G's App Store launch presented a unique opportunity to potentially reach millions of consumers with a branded application. After waiting for acceptance as an iPhone developer, it only required two weeks for 40cozy's sole developer to complete pour1out, their humorous beer application.
"At this point in time, I think this is one of the most cost-effective ways to reach the largest number of potential customers," states P.J. Eichten, 40cozy's Marketing Director. "With some talented developers and a unique concept, even a small company can launch a useful and/or memorable application. The challenge is creating an app that is unique and truly appeals to your target market. Ultimately, the success of a branded app depends on its ability to deliver functionality that inspires the initial download, encourages frequent and long-term usage, and creates a positive brand image."
