The Game Doctor, reveals the untold stories behind both the magazine and the people who brought us the 'classic' era of electronic gaming, along with other personal memoirs ranging from his early days as a comic book writer and rock guitarist to the sad saga of how his lifelong dream of becoming The Batman became the basis of a nightmarish movie/computer game tie-in experience.

FERNLEY, NV - Robert Kahn wants to keep kids safe - all kids. His entire
career has been dedicated to his love for children and the importance of
their education. Bob holds a Masters in Education; taught sixth grade for
ten years; became a deputy sheriff and is now a D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse
Resistance Education) officer for the state of Nevada. He has recently
begun to publish a series of child safety booklets that are a necessity for
every child in your life.
"Bobby and Mandee's Too Safe for Strangers," and "Bobby and Mandee's Too
Smart for Bullies" are the first two titles in his Children's Safety series.
These first two are told from the viewpoint of his own children, Bobby (11)
as the narrator and Mandee (9) is the main character. His son, Bobby, plays
an even more important, albeit behind-the-scenes, role among Kahn's youthful
audience. Bobby is a high-functioning autistic. He requires that things be
very literal. Kahn uses this point to stress his books' simplicity and
effectiveness with all children. Utilizing education and experience, Robert
Kahn created his books to teach and reinforce basic safety rules to children
of all ages. Concepts are simple, clear and direct. With repetition and
reinforcement from teachers and parents, these books save lives and prevent
tragedy. Kahn wants everyone to be able to use them and he wants everyone
to have access to them.
At a time when Bob began to give up hope of ever publishing this series, a
fellow deputy sheriff called him to extend congratulations and
thanks. The sheriff's deputy told him that someone had tried to abduct a
little girl. This little girl had recently learned "stranger/danger" from
Kahn. But, thanks to his instruction, she knew what to do and got away.
To date, Kahn's methodology has successfully prevented twenty six documented
child abductions in his county alone. It may be an even greater amount than
that, with some incidents going unreported. Within the pages of these
booklets, Kahn gives adults and children the absolutely essential tools to
effectively communicate danger and keep children alert and safe without
being constantly fearful. "With education there is knowledge and with that
knowledge - a power that is insurmountable." says Kahn.
Where to find books by Robert Kahn:
"Bobby and Mandee's Too Smart for Bullies," and "Bobby and Mandee's Too Safe
for Strangers," books are available for individual purchase from Robert
